Blog 01

This is my first Blog. This blog is about some of my thoughts after watching the video of TRACY MA’ talk and AVATAR ROBOT CAFE TOKYO, Digital Transformation.

Tracy Ma talk with NEW YORK TIMES VISUAL EDITOR

The first video is about Tracy Ma, to share some of her past experiences and achievements. It’s about how to start from existing events, expanding the ideas and delivering them to people in a visual form. Then, people could feel and understand this different world more intuitively.

AVATAR ROBOT CAFE TOKYO.
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

The second video is about how Avatar Robot Cafe help the disabled people provide coffee service to customers. It helps them become a part of the society and find their own value; This new form can not only just improve the life of people with disabilities, but also greatly broaden people’s imagination.

These two short films really inspires me a lot and make me rethink personal design practice; First, observing daily life and try to present them in various ways, which will allow us see the different aspect of the world. Second, thinking should not be limited at any time; Having the courage to break out of the fixed framework will help to find the other side of things.Third, exploring the infinite possibilities because everything has an unexpected aspect.

Design is aimed to solve problems; It takes people as the center to help people live better. The disabled people cannot even take care of themselves due to certain defects. They are separated from normal social production activities and drifting on the edge of society, which often leads to a lack of self-worth. It’s hard for them to find the meaning of life because living is not just able to breath, eat and sleep which are the most basic physiological needs of people. According to Maslow’s level of needs, people have five needs, from low to high: physiological needs, safety needs, social needs, respect needs and self-realization needs; Avatar Robot Cafe helps people with disabilities break through their physical limitations and reintegrated into society, realizing the pursuit of higher-dimensional needs which also allows me to see the infinite possibilities. Even if the whole body is paralyzed and only one mouth can move, the need to live like a normal people should also be respected. There is nothing impossible in life.
