Project 1-Personal Map

This is my first project!

Personal Map

This map is about how experience of my tooth connect with the history of somatology. The journey would be demonstrated from the perspective of my front tooth on the basis of  a dimension of time.

Inspiration

The inspiration is from that I lost one of my front tooth due to an accident. After that, I need to go to the dentist regularly for orthodontics and dental implant. This experience lasted for a very long time so it brought me lots of feelings, because I have experienced many dental treatments like tooth extraction and tooth washing etc. Then I want to display this unique experience through this personal map .

Research

I collect some information about the development of stomatology because I want to know how people in the past protect and cure their teeth when they encounter some tooth diseases, as well as how the technology of treating teeth developed and have a positive impact on us.

I have arranged something that I experienced and felt along the time line, combined with the history of stomatology. Meanwhile, I do a simple drawing of dental conditions according to different times. I want to start from the perspective of the remaining front tooth because this tooth is the first grow-up tooth compared with others. Demonstrating my personal experience and how the development of stomatology benefit human on the basis of macro level.

Ideas

The first idea is about how to show the connection between the development of dentistry and my personal experience.

The second idea I want to choose some important fragments and demonstrate their mutual connections in the form of a photo wall.

The third idea is about time,  because the experience usually extends and develops over time. The scale of the clock reminds me of some time points of my previous experience and the pointer can  imply a kind of progress.

Sketches

I think of the element of the eye because it is cut from the perspective of the front tooth which acts as a bystander. Eyelashes represent the time nodes of the development of stomatology. The lines like eyeball bloodshot link the two together.

The scale of the clock is my age. I divided the dial plate according to the experience of each stage. The pointer on the dial imply the life progress of the front teeth.

Final

Well! This is my final product!
